Somali Drought Victims Funds Distribution Update
The total amount collected is $10, 690. We attempted to transfer the funds to the National Drought Response Committee in Somalia; however, the only way to transfer the funds to them was to deposit a cash to their Dahabshiil account since Dahabshiil does not accept checks. Per our accounting principles and policy, Masjid-As-Salaamah does not use cash either internally or externally.
Alternatively, we decided to split the funds and give it to Read Horn of Africa and HAVOYOCO, two reputable organizations actively engaged in raising funds for the drought victims in Somalia. Each organization received $5, 345.00 check.
Thank you

Fundraising for Drought Victims in Somalia
By the grace of Allah, Masjid-As-Salaamah collected funds for the starving population in Somalia due to long and severe drought. The total cash collected so far is $10,690. There are few more outstanding pledges to be collected. After all funds are collected, we will transfer all the funds to the Somali National Drought Response Committee formed by the former president of Somalia.
This is not the first time Masjid-As-Salaamah collected funds for the current Somali drought victims. In November 2016, we invited HAVOYOCO, Somalia based NGO to collect funds for the Somali drought victims.

The mass shooting in Orlando FL, allegedly by a person with Muslim surname originally from Afghanistan is wrong, hateful, sickening, and contrary to the correct teaching and understanding of Islam. Shooting people indiscriminately has no bases in Islam and its sound-authentic teachings.
